Study & Share Sermon Blog

This is Pastor Jared's weekly sermon info and his weekly Study and Share devotional Bible study. Unless otherwise noted all sermons and studies are copyright Jared Stillions 2020-2023. The devotional Bible studies may be reproduced & shared for personal, non-sale use, provided this copyright notice is included. The studies are formatted two to a page to make sharing it easier. Weekly posts go live at 9:00 AM on Sundays.

You can find his sermon podcast on the sermon-cast page. Check back each Sunday for new content. The podcast will soon be listed with major services.
Why not put them on the same page? Due to limitations of our website builder.

By the way, here's the Lutheran Confessions, The Book of Concord, online and in the public domain. These writings, including Luther's Small & Large Catechisms are frequently referenced in these devotional studies. The Confessions are the historic doctrinal standard of the Lutheran Church and a faithful exposition of the Bible. You could say they are squared, leveled, and plumb by and to the Bible itself.

#4 The Magnificat also holds a mirror up to us so that we may see ourselves, warts & all. Where is the Lord preparing you for Jesus’ arrival by calling you to repent of being the king of the hill, top of the heap? Your pride? Power? Prestige? Privilege? Pedigree? Personality traits (flaws)? Position? (misdirected) Passion? (misguided) Purpose? Impiety? Ambition? Greed? What awaits your failure to repent (vv51-53)? See 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12; 2 Peter 2:1-10a

By the way, our Wednesday Sermon and Series is...
To Rescue the Godly (12.16.2020)
the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment -2 Peter 2:9
How to Hear a Sermon
Why do we bother with sermons and what are they good for? They open God's Word to us, both his Law and his Gospel. They're not self-help motivation or instructional lectures.

#3 Review Mark 2:17, Luke 15:7, Romans 2:4; 2 Corinthians 7:9-10; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 1:8-9. What’s the point of repentance? To embarrass you before God, who already knows everything about you (cf. Psalms 94:11, 139:2, 23; Matthew 10:30)? Look up repentance in your study Bible & read the Augsburg Confession XII. Where does the old joke, “I know I’m going the wrong way, but I’m making great time!” apply to your life? AC available bookofconcord.org
